Thereafter considers humankind’s footprint on the planet and explores the weird ways our detritus could serve as means for survival. Masses of components made from collected and recycled materials create a landscape that references: over-exploitation of resources, the remnants of unbridled construction, and potential for subsequent biological growth that at first feels familiar yet is quite strange.
About the Artist:
Laura Latimer lives and works in Austin, Texas. Her studio practice focuses on integrating variety of texture, biomorphic pattern, and structural form into immersive art installations. Laura’s art has been shown regionally in Texas and in an exhibition of emerging Austin artists at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Indiana. Most recently, her work was exhibited at Box 13 ArtSpace in Houston and at Dimension Gallery in Austin.
